Curriculum

I offer tutoring in the following subjects:

  • Philosophy
  • Norwegian
  • English
  • French
  • Guitar

These subjects are offered either via online tutoring, or locally in Kristiansand, Norway.

I have a wide background in teaching and tutoring, both in schools and universities. If you are on the fence regarding choosing me as your tutor, you may book a trial lesson free of charge. This would enable us to get to know each other, and to uncover your curricular needs.

About me

Here you will find an introduction and a description of the expectations I seek to meet.

I am a 27-year-old man with a passion for learning and teaching. So far in my life I have lived in Norway, France, England, Greece, and China. This has forced my language skills to improve, but it has also forced my comprehension skills to evolve. These skills have since been honed during my time studying philosophy and working as a teacher at the university.

My approach to teaching is based on openness and discussion. I would be more than happy to simply chat and develop a curriculum and approach to suit your needs, and I will do my best to make you an independent learner. It is perhaps not so business-minded to make myself redundant as a teacher, but I do not consider my job well done if you do not become an independent student equipped with the tools needed to teach yourself. This process should take about one year on average.

I am a writer and a musician in my free time and thus one might dub me a humanist. I enjoy coffee and music, but I am not without my pecularities. Those peculiarities could perhaps be revealed in a tutoring session.

I have five years of experience as a substitute teacher in primary schools, as well as teaching formal logic and thesis counselling at the university both online and in class.

My methodology is not singular. In an ideal case I would like to discuss and build a methodology together with you during the first session. However, should you not wish so I would be happy to go forward with standard teaching sessions where we first uncover your strengths and weaknesses, and then try to harness those strengths while ameliorating the weaknesses. This is nothing new; just standard one-to-one tutoring. And it works very well.

Feel free to book a trial lesson with me. I am an educated philosopher, so even if it turns out that I would not be the right tutor for you, I could nevertheless probably point you in the right direction.

Thank you very much for your time; I hope it was worth it! I wish you the best of luck on your journey, and I hope that you will choose me as your tutor!
